I buy mine from crscrafts.com. They are pretty ridiculously cheap, and they have all sizes. You can find them under bear making supplies.

Oh this is adorable! And sounds like a great project for a last-minute present.

Absoultely brilliant. All I can think of now is wanting a crocheted octopus winter hat.
I'm bemused and impressed. Bravo!
... I'd pay for one of those. For serious.

this is so cool! i think i'll take a shot at making this. thanks for sharing!!
omg! that's the first thing i thought of. a beanie like the ones with the side string/strap things. those look awesome, but one that was an octopus and had 8 things hanging down would be sooooo amazing! i've been wanting to teach myself to crochet for the longest time, but when i looked in crocheting for dummies. i felt retarded cuz i couldn't even figure out how they were telling me to hold the yarn and put it on the hook :[

SEND IT TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Beautiful! And thanks so much for posting the instructions, too. Some of these will definitely be turning up in my friends' stockings at Christmas this year!
Hi there - say I've been looking at S. Giardino for bit here - I assume you're looking for the googlie eyes where the irises will roll about - but - have you condsidered embroidering his eyes - or applying felt ones? It may give you more control or his expression and I think would be just the finishing touch to make him entirely adorable. Also - I think it would only be craftlifting if you had known about the pattern and intentionally modeled the your project after that.
Thank you all so much! (And thanks to Vox for featuring Giardino - what a lovely surprise!)

Learnsomething - that was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
GeneW3 - that is such a cute idea! I would love to see that. (In fact, I may have to borrow that plan, if it's okay with you.)
Christine - I'm thinking of selling them on Etsy... so you may be able to!
H mihm K - he originally had embroidered eyes and for me they just weren't working. And thank you so much for assuaging my craftlifting guilt!

Best of luck to anyone who tries making one!

Very nice...now if you could do this for Octoroks and other legend of zelda characters I would really love it.

This is wonderful! I saw it on the front page and just had to look at it. I hope you don't mind, but I'm adding you to my neighborhood so I can see more of your stuff. Let me know if you do mind and I'll take you back out again.
I think I'll have to try making one of these myself!
Too cute!! I'm huting for a giraffe to make for my son's first birthday! I'm also a scrapbooker... scraplifting, craftlifting... it's ok if it stretches you creatively AND you give proper credit! I've learned to do some awesome new techniques by scraplifting. Love the octopus!
Again, thank you thank you thank you! I never imagined I'd get this reception, and I really appreciate it!
mollywog - I don't mind at all!
Lynn - thank you for the reassurances. I know Roxycraft has a giraffe pattern, but you have to pay for it.
